May 2014

GFS Fund Development ran the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Washington 2014 Walk to raise $275,000.  We coordinated business sponsorships and assisted Walk Committee and the NAMI Board in best practices for securing sponsorships.  GFS managed NAMI website and database and developed format to reach team captains and individual walkers. We worked with Board and Walk Committee to introduce and implement new fundraising ideas and helped teams with their fundraising goals.  GFS communicated with team captains and fielded any issues that arose with fundraising or team development and worked with Walk Committee to coordinate all publicity for the Walk including social media, constant contact, website, print, television, and other media outlets.  We coordinated design, printing and supply of collateral including posters, sponsorship package, brochures, t-shirts and other items. Oversaw and managed the day-of event details to ensure that set-up, tear down, booths, stage set-up, registration and volunteer staff all ran smoothly.
Fun Fact
"My recommendation for GFS Events is two-fold. As a walker at the NAMI event, they served the day as the consummate professional, coordinating the various aspects of a busy day with the calm demeanor of a true professional. Every detail came off without a hitch because GFS Events had a personal role in making sure everything had been confirmed before the moment of crisis. They even stayed up the night before to pray for good weather. As the journalist who helped coordinate media coverage of the event, GFS Events was accessible and detailed in their responsibility. I have only four words to sum up my experience with Gazala and her team at the NAMI Walk '13: It was my pleasure."
